Trial classes
Trial classes are ideal for members who want to try a class.

How do trial classes work for members?
Book a trial class
1. Choose a class.
2. Click Book.
3. Choose an available date.
4. Click "Book".
5. Go to the overview.
6. Confirm your details. Done!
Cancel a trial class
Set up trial classes as an administrator
Go to Course offerings > Manage, open a course and select the Prices tab.
For each class, choose whether trial classes are available. You can also limit how many trial classes a person can take for a particular course.
Trial class price
By default, a trial class is free, but you can charge for it. The amount paid can automatically be deducted from the course price if the member later registers for that course.
Note: the discount applies only to the course for which the trial class was taken. A member who tries class A but registers for class B receives no discount.
You can also set up trial classes in bulk under Course offerings > Bulk edit > Trial classes.
Trial classes and capacity
Trial class without reserving a place
Specify how many trial classes you want to accept. Trial participants do not take up a place, so someone registering for the full course always has priority. Trial classes can be booked while there is room in the class. Once the course is full, no more trial classes can be booked. Members already booked for a trial class remain on the list; you can contact them to explain that the class has since filled up.
Trial class that reserves a place
Suppose your capacity is 10 and five people are registered. Five places remain for trial classes. Someone booking a trial class takes one place for the full class, leaving four places for both trial bookings and full registrations.
You can choose how long a place stays reserved for a trial participant. If someone takes a trial class on 1 September and the place is held for five days, they have five days to register for the full course. After that, the place becomes available again.
These options let you manage trial classes flexibly while giving everyone a chance to take part.
Booking period
Set how far in advance someone can book a trial class. This matters especially when trial bookings reserve places: a booking for a class six weeks away would block a place for six weeks.
You can allow bookings a specified number of days in advance. If the class starts at 19:00, booking opens at 19:00 that many days before.
When can someone take a trial class?
Use "Choose sessions" to select the dates available for trial classes. This prevents members arriving unexpectedly. You can also define trial periods, such as September and January.
When may members take a trial class?
Many clubs have a specific trial period. Select the sessions when trial participants are welcome.
Track trial classes
Members booked for a trial class are automatically added to the attendance list for their booking date, marked with a test-tube icon.
They also appear in your registration lists (Course offerings > Registrations).
There is a Trial classes menu under Course offerings where you can find all trial participants.
They are grouped by whether they attended or missed the trial class, and you can see whether they have registered for the full activity.
Automatic email follow-up
You can disable automatic follow-up emails under Settings > General.
Members receive an email after their booked session ends. The email depends on whether they attended, so remember to record attendance.
Emails are sent six hours after the session. This gives clubs with poor reception in the venue time to record attendance afterwards.
Attendees and absentees receive different emails. Attendees are asked whether they enjoyed the trial class and receive a link to register.
