8. Check Volunteer Allowances and Annual Limits

Before the first assignment of a volunteer receiving a lump-sum expense allowance, record:

• amount and unit;

• calendar year;

• general or increased annual limit;

• why the increased limit may apply;

• answers ClubWerk cannot know automatically;

• known lump-sum allowances from other organisations.

2026 limits

• General limit: no more than €44.02 per day and €1,760.83 per year.

• Increased annual limit: up to €3,233.91 for categories listed by law. The daily limit remains €44.02.

The increased limit applies to the person, not the club. When uncertain, ClubWerk uses the general limit until an authorised person confirms otherwise.

All organisations count

The limits apply per volunteer across all organisations combined. ClubWerk includes what the club records and what the team member reports externally. An 80% warning is an early internal warning, not an additional legal limit or a guarantee that nothing was paid elsewhere.

Evidence and register

Actual club expenses, receipts and reimbursements remain separate from the volunteer allowance. Use the Volunteer register for names, amounts, journeys and supporting documents. The club remains responsible for completeness and required formalities.
